Friday, April 13 - Papeete, Tahiti, French Polynesia

Land Ahoy, finally. Tahiti, sometimes thought of as a group of islands, is not. Tahiti is the largest of the Society Islands of French Polynesia. It is mountainous and ruggedly beautiful and due to the volcanic nature of the island, it is covered with a lush tropical forest and surrounded by coral reefs teeming with sea life.

Population is around 200,000 and Tahitians are French citizens.
